After his dazzling recital last summer which reminded us with real emotion of the debut of the great Andreas Scholl in Beaune in 1994 (“Perfection in Handel, enchanting in Vivaldi or Albinoni: the French countertenor confirms a penetrating art and unique personality”, wrote J. Ph. Grosperrin in Diapasonmag), it is with great joy that we once again invite Paul-Antoine Bénos in recital in a programme of great arias from operas by Purcell (notably “The cold scene” from King Arthur) and Handel (including “Mi palpita il cor”, “Furibondo spira il vento” from Partenope or “Venti turbini” from Rinaldo). Anne Blanchard, who has been following Paul-Antoine Bénos for several years, offers him not only his second recital, but also the title role of Handel’s opera Julius Caesar, conducted by Ottavio Dantone on 29 July.
